Japanese Pepper is an attractive shrub that can be trained into a small tree up to 12-feet in height and spread. It bears an abundant crop of small, flavourful, aromatic red fruits that are highly prized in Japanese cooking. The shrub has handsome, 4- to 6-in long, dark green leaves. The dried fruit hulls, seeds and peppery tasting leaves are all used to flavor rice and other Asian foods. USDA Zone 5.
