As an improved North American native cultivar (Nativar,) this selection displays exceptional drought-tolerance, deer-resistance and adaptability to tough sites. But, best of all, it offers a dramatic punch of colour throughout the full growing season! The dark glossy, burgundy-black foliage is especially striking in early spring and fall. In summer, dainty yellow flowers appear in abundance, which attract pollinators. Come fall, the leaves change again to a fiery mix of scarlet and crimson. Diervilla is tough enough to perform well under challenging growing conditions, with little attention and in sun or shade.
